North Tonawanda is an easy commute for those that work in downtown Buffalo or Niagara Falls. A wonderful city to raise a family along a tree-lined street among friends that become like family and last a lifetime.

History of North Tonawanda

Also known as “The Lumber City”, North Tonawanda was founded in 1897 and the nickname comes from heavy industrial past transporting and forwarding lumber in the mid-19th century through the 1970’s being one of the largest ports on the Great Lakes during the height of the Erie Canal.

Great Location

North Tonawanda is on the north side of the Erie Canal/Tonawanda Creek, across from Erie County, New York and the communities of the City of Tonawanda and the Town of Amherst. The Town of Wheatfield borders North Tonawanda on the north and east; the Niagara River serves as its western border, as Tonawanda Creek is its southern border.

North Tonawanda, NY offers several fun activities and attractions for visitors. Some popular things to do in North Tonawanda include exploring the historic Riviera Theatre, taking a scenic walk or bike ride along the Erie Canalway Trail, visiting the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, and enjoying the beautiful scenery at Gratwick Waterfront Park. Additionally, North Tonawanda is home to several excellent restaurants, bars, and shops, making it a great destination for a day trip or weekend getaway.
